Backward Curved Fans
Backward curved fans pull system air using single thickness impellers pointed away from fan rotational direction, resulting in quiet, smooth operation.
These fans are highly efficient relative to radial blade or radial tip fans, and offer universal service in clean to moderately abrasive environments.
Considered “cheap to keep,” backward curved fans feature a non-overloading brake horsepower curve, achieving efficiencies of 80 – 82%, and can be used with or without scroll housing.
Backward Curved Fan Design
While backward curved fans are highly efficient, their construction properties can limit pressure capabilities and subject them to material build-up. ProcessBarron engineers and service technicians will accurately assess your operation’s air handling requirements to manufacture & install the correctly sized backward curved fan in your system.
Designed for longevity and efficiency in air, gases, dust, and material handling applications, the rugged industrial fans will help to minimize operating costs.
Backward Curved Fan Construction & Accessories
At ProcessBarron, backward curved fans are performance rated in accordance with AMCA standards, rigorously tested, and quality checked for proper rotating assembly operation (ANSI standards), rotor resonance properties, and overall fan performance.
Our industrial fans are fabricated from materials including Hastelloy, ASTM 36, high strength carbon steels – A514/A517 and exotic alloys to endure long-lasting use in high temperature, high pressure, corrosive environments.
Common backward curved fan accessories/options include:
- Inlet & outlet dampers
- Expansion joints
- Access doors
- Standard NEMA Motors
- Spark-resistant construction
- Extended life bearings
- Special coatings
- Silencers & insulation
