Fabric Expansion Joints
Fabric expansion joints are used in a variety of applications and industries, including ID and FD fans, ductwork, stacks, baghouses, precipitators, and scrubbers.
Technical expansion joint experts are available for field inspection and evaluation services, complete field installation, temporary joint repair and splicing, and turn-key installation.
Fabric and Non-metallic Expansion Joints
ProcessBarron stocks fabrics and insulation for the manufacture of a wide variety of fabric expansion joints with tolerance ranges from low temperatures to 1800˚F. All fabric expansion joint materials comply with Fluid Sealing Association (FSA) specifications. Expansion joints made from elastomeric or composite material are available.
Fabric expansion joints, non-metallic expansion joints, and frames are fabricated and assembled in-house at our Alabama facilities. Convenient emergency and standard deliveries are available.

Elastomeric Expansion Joint Options
ProcessBarron’s elastomeric expansion joints provide high resistance to moisture and chemical corrosion, resistance to vibrations and pulsations, and are ideal for fan discharge and turbine inlet applications.
| Series | Cover Construction | Max. Cont. Temp. | Design Pressure | Vacuum |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| N250 | Fabric Reinforced Neoprene | 250°F | 2 psig | 50 In. H2O |
| E300E | Fabric Reinforced Chlorobutyl / EPDM | 300°F | 2 psig | 50 In. H2O |
| E400V | Fabric Reinforced Fluoroelastomer | 400°F | 2 psig | 50 In. H2O |
| T1407 | Fluoropolymer with PTFE Chemical Barrier | 600°F | 3 psig | 83 In. H2O |
- N250: Permits continuous use to 250°F. N250 is flame resistant and is compounded to give good resistance to sun, weather, and ozone. N250 operates without deterioration in presence of the flue gases, oils, greases, and other petroleum products.
- E300E: Permits continuous use up to 300°F. Chlorobutyl and EPDM have good weatherability characteristics and are excellent against hot air and most flue gases. It cannot be operated in an oil atmosphere without accelerated deterioration.
- E400V: Permits continuous use up to 400°F with short duration excursions to 700°F. Fluoroelastomers are excellent against hot air and have good resistance against oils and minerals acids. They exhibit good weatherability and have proven successful against chemicals such as SO2 and SO3 found in flue gases.
- T1407: Permits continuous use up to 600°F. T1407 is excellent for harsh chemical service in very aggressive wet and dry environments. T1407 operates without deterioration in the presence of flue gases, oils, grease, aromatic aliphatic, halogenated hydrocarbons, and many acids.
Composite Expansion Joint Options:
ProcessBarron’s composite expansion joints provide the highest resistance to moisture and chemical corrosion, permit continuous use at extreme temperatures, provide resistance to vibrations and pulsations, and are ideal for the most chemically corrosive and extreme temperature applications.
